10 Different Crystal Shapes and how you can use them

https://goo.gl/SxiOv2

Did you know that the varying shapes of crystals actually have different characteristics? Along with the properties a stone has, its shape and formation brings additional benefits. You may have been drawn to a beautiful celestite cluster you saw in a display window, or a tiny satchel full of pyrite cubes, and there could very well be a reason for this. Sometimes our bodies crave the shape of a stone just as much as the properties it holds. Do you prefer raw stones to tumbled ones? Are you pining over a beautiful malachite sphere - that costs a pretty penny? Check out these ten common formations below to see what they mean and how you can use them in your modern spiritual practice:

TUMBLED

Crystals that have been smoothed or polished from their raw form are usually classified as tumbled stones. They have not been carved into any specific form, but are not jagged to the touch. These crystals are usually more affordable and are good for basic crystal use, including grids, meditation, affirmations, altar work, feng shui or more.

ABUNDANCE

Crystals in an Abundance formation are made up of an elongated quartz crystal with smaller crystals clustered around its base. This is a great stone to attract abundance to your life (hence its name) and is great for acting as a conduit to your wealth and business stones.

NATURAL POINT

Natural points are not necessarily long crystals in a wand-like formation. They are any part of a faceted crystal with a point that has formed naturally, and has not been carved to perfection. These types of stones must be used with caution as the point draws energy to the body (when pointed toward a person) or it draws energy away from the body (when pointed away from the body). These properties make it a great tool for cleansing and healing work.

PHANTOM

The Phantom formation is slightly difficult to find. These crystals have a hazy image within them, although most of the crystal is particularly transclucent. This phantom of ghost within the crystal is said to carry a vast array of information for the past, making it a powerful tool for past-like work and healing. Depending on the crystal that the phantom is found within, additional properties will apply. However, any Phantom formation will be a powerful stone to shake out your skeletons and pave a healthy path for growth.

GENERATOR

A Generator will have six facets (of equal or unequal proportions) that meet into one point. It gets its name for its ability to generate amplified energy, boosting the power of other stones, or the stone it is made of. This type of formation is also very powerful for charging other stones.

GEODE

These stones are elusive because they appear ordinary from the outside. However, when they are opened or broken they reveal a hollow cave with crystals sparkling within. Because of their contained form, geodes have the ability to hold energy within and soften it, allowing it to naturally flow out and disperse evenly. These formations are great for protection or for assisting with healing abusive habits such as alcoholism, drug abuse, sex addiction, shopping addiction, and abusive internal monologues.

RAW

Raw stones are in their natural form and have not been smoothed, polished or altered. Though they are more fragile and can break more easily than other formations, many prefer the look of these stones as they would appear raw in their natural habitat. Like tumbled stones, raw stones are great for all spiritual work and are often quite affordable.

PYRAMID

Pyramids are stones that have been shaped into a point with four equal faceted sides and a square base. These formations are great for warding off negative vibrations or removing blocks within the chakra system. This shape is also a great choice to use in affirmation and manifestation work. The properties of the crystal are amplified in this formation. It is a good choice for healers.

SPHERE

The circle emits energy evenly from all angles, and the Sphere formation is no different. These are powerful formations and are often used in scrying as a tool to peer into the past and future. Because the shape is even from every possible angle, it is believed that light, energy and time pass through it with no rules or hindrances, hence their scrying abilities. They often have flaws or occlusions within them which help with the scrying process, though they can be quite expensive depending on their size.

SQUARE

This formation works well with grounding energies and intentions since its energy is contained and enhanced evenly within the stone. It acts as a foundation to meditation practices and has the ability to transmute negative energy into positive energy. They're stacking ability makes them great tools for mindfulness and concentration, especially if you're doing detailed work.

How To Cleanse Crystals Safely

One of the first things you should learn when you begin working with crystals is how to cleanse crystals. This is not physical cleaning I am talking about but how to energetically cleanse them. Crystals are sensitive tools which absorb energies as well as emit them. If you have never cleansed your crystals before don’t worry, you’re not the only one. Cleansing crystals can seem intimidating to some people or even complicated but it’s really not once you get started.

Why Do We Need To Cleanse Crystals?

Crystals pick up all kinds of energies from our thoughts, feelings, other people and places.
If you use a crystal for chakra healing for example it can take on energies which you would not want to keep or pass onto others.

How To Cleanse Crystals

There are many methods available which you can use to cleanse your crystals and bring them back into balance. Some methods you may come across online and in books can actually damage your crystals (I know because I’ve learned the hard way). So I am going to be sharing with you only those which I have used and know to be perfectly safe. Some of these methods are well known but some you may not have heard of before.

Smudging

This popular Native American cleansing method uses dried sage bundles which can be purchased at most metaphysical shops or websites. You will need a dish to catch any ashes or cinders. You could use a large Abalone Shell which is traditional in some tribes.
Light the Smudge Stick then blow out any flames. You can now pass your crystal through the smoke a few times to clear it.

Moonlight

At night when the Moon is full place your crystals on a window sill which faces the Moon. The moonlight will cleanse the crystals overnight.
Remember to remove them first thing in the morning so they don’t get too much direct sunlight which can fade them over time.

Energy Healing

If you are a Reiki practitioner or use any other energy healing method you can use this to cleanse your crystals whenever or wherever you are. Simply hold your crystals and pass the healing energy through them.
These days you can learn many healing modalities online through Home study courses.

Tibetan Singing Bowl

These Buddhist metal bowls come with a cushion to rest them on and a wooden stick. When struck they emit a tone which is both soothing and cleansing. You do not need a big one, there are some beautiful handmade ones on Amazon like this one.
Don’t put your crystals inside the bowl itself but place them outside, around it. Gently strike the side with the stick and slowly rub the rim of the bowl in a clockwise direction several times.

Copper Pyramid

Not very well known but one of the simplest methods to use. You can find these online and they are made of copper pipes or rods. Look for ones based on the proportions of the Great Pyramid to tap into powerful Sacred Geometry like this Copper Pyramid I found on Amazon.

Use a compass so that you always have all four sides facing the four cardinal compass directions. Simply leave your crystals in the pyramid for an hour or longer if you wish.

I often Cleanse Crystals in my Copper Pyramid

But Can’t I Just Use Water?

You may be wondering why I don’t recommend using water to cleanse crystals. This is one of the methods which can damage certain minerals.

These are just a few methods you can use. In time you will likely develop your own ways. After cleansing the crystals will feel revitalised and renewed as well as work at their full potential.

If you know people who may benefit from this post please share the link with them or use one of the sharing buttons below. I would love to know what ways you use to cleanse your crystals? Let me know in the comments.

Thank you,

How to Heal Your Chakras for Personal Development

The seven Chakras of the body are energy centers that allow your self to receive, internalize, and also diffuse life energy. They are capable of “transforming energy” and influencing change within yourself or personality.
Bear in mind that the state of each of your Chakras at one time can be under-active, healthily balanced, or over-active.

Consciously or subconsciously, you can either activate or obstruct these Chakra energy sources through your thoughts, feelings, or actions. Here are ways to help activate them for self-improvement:

1. Crown Chakra – For Enhancing Your Spirit Energy

The Crown Chakra or “Sahasrara” is located on the top or “crown” of your head and its color is violet. Energy from the Crown Chakra creates the experience of “transcendence” and associates yourself with a higher purpose, consciousness as well as vision.
Obsession with materialistic things is the number one factor that blocks energy in this Chakra.

How to stimulate your Crown Chakra:
  • Pray regularly or participate in religious activities – this helps you revisit and get in touch with your spiritual origins
  • Meditate – this allows you to tap into your higher consciousness
  • Sing your heart out – helps you get in touch with your inner self.

2. Third-Eye Chakra – For Enhancing Your Integration Energy

The Third-Eye Chakra is also called Anja and its color is indigo. It is located in between your eyes, and its energy is manifested in yourself as “intuition.” It works in relation to your left and right brain processes, integration of your male and female sides, wisdom, and holistic experiences.
“Busy life” with almost no more time for personal reflection is one of the major blocks to the energy harnessed in this Chakra.

How to stimulate your Third-Eye Chakra:
  • Be still often – get in touch with your mind, body, and nature
  • Take a walk – to stimulate or create good balance in you so you can sit still and write down your thoughts
  • Take up a creative activity – e.g. write poetry, draw, or paint
  • Clear the excess clutter from your work and life

3. Throat Chakra – For Achieving Meaning Energy

Throat Chakra is also know as Visuddha. Its color is blue and it is located in your throat. The energy from this Chakra is associated with “communication and expression” and has to do with beliefs, language, and metaphors.
Lack of focus and disorganized thoughts are the major blocks to this Chakra’s energies.
How to stimulate your Throat Chakra:
  • Say what you are most afraid to say
  • Try journal writing to get in touch with your inner thoughts or reflections
  • Illustrate your thoughts through art, maps, charts, or diagrams to help visualize whatever it is you want to say
  • Use metaphors to create new meanings or perspectives
  • Talk with other people.

4. Heart Chakra – For Improving Your Community/ Connection Energy

The Heart Chakra or Anahata is located at the center of your chest. Its color is green and it deals with all aspects related to kindness and loving. You experience its energy as feelings of “connection” as you relate with others, participate in relationships, or engage with others in collaborative effort.
Isolation blocks energy from this source, most especially if you cut off yourself from a support system or from receiving emotional support from other people.

How to stimulate your Heart Chakra:
  • Spend more quality time with your loved ones
  • Connect with other people
  • Participate in discussions
  • Develop supportive “learning partnerships” with others.

5. Solar Plexus Chakra – For Harnessing Your Control Energy

The Solar Plexus Chakra is also called Manipura, its color is yellow, and it is located in your stomach area. Its energy is manifested in one’s feelings or experiences of “clarity” and is closely associated with one’s sense of power, confidence, and self-control. Individuals with overactive SL Chakra is often regarded as arrogant.
Absence of planning and lack of order causes major blockage to the energies from this Chakra.
How to stimulate your Solar Plexus Chakra:
  • Create order, structure, guidelines or some form into your life
  • Match your tasks to your personal energy level – do all your creative high-energy activities in the morning (if you’re a “morning person”) and your minor tasks or routine activities during night-time
  • Expose yourself to more sunshine.

6. Naval Chakra – For Boosting Your Activity Energy

The Naval Chakra is also called Svadisthana energy source. Its color is orange and it is located in your lower abdomen. This Chakra relates to one’s feelings and sexuality, and is also associated with movement, creativity, doing, and achievement. Its energy translates into “excitement”.
Inactivity because of self-doubt and/or procrastination is the major block to this source of energy.
How to stimulate your Naval Chakra:
  • Connect emotionally with others
  • Do things in stages or step-by-step phases instead of all at once
  • Try soothing/sensuous water exercise
  • Do yoga.

7. Root Chakra – For Kindling Your Existence Energy

The Root Chakra a.k.a. the Base Chakra or Muladhara is located in your tailbone and its energy color is red. This Chakra is connected to one’s sense of security, self-preservation, or survival.
“Self-sabotage” or negative self-talk filled with self-doubt is the major barrier in activating this Chakra. NOTE: The most serious issue with this is that unless you are able to deal with your self-doubts, you are also limiting your access to all the other 6 Chakras or sources of energy.
How to stimulate your Root or Base Chakra:
  • Confront and challenge your self-doubts to stop “sabotaging” yourself
  • Visualize your tasks as completed and imagine the sense of achievement you will feel when you finally accomplish them
  • Listen or stay in tune with your body and learn to relax or release any tensions you’re feeling when facing challenges
  • Share your concerns and get support from others.
The 7 Chakras are both interdependent and interconnected with each other. They help improve and develop the entire person – both his/her irrational and rational selves, emotional and intuitive sides, his/her aesthetic and pragmatic tendencies, as well as material and spiritual characteristics.
You can help activate your 7 Chakra energy sources by following the tips above to improve your self and your daily life.
